10 Years in the Company: At the Core of Quality and Responsibility
When Outi Pellinen stepped through the doors of our company in Nurmijärvi for the first time ten years ago, she was greeted by Carita at the front desk — her warm smile made a lasting impression. That same smile, which welcomed Outi then, is still present today, greeting new employees and visitors at Würth Elektro.
A Diverse Journey Within the Company
Outi’s career in our company has been varied, and over the years, she has worked in several different roles. She started in the purchasing team, where she learned the fundamental principles of our business. "Purchasing was a great place to start because it gave me a broad view of how products move and what the customer needs," she says.
After her parental leave, Outi returned to the purchasing team for a while, but soon, her career took a new direction when she transitioned to product management. "Product management brought a fresh perspective. I got to work directly with products and understand their significance from the customer's point of view," she explains.
Today, Outi works as a Quality Manager, focusing on responsibility and quality — an area where she can combine the expertise she has gained in her previous roles. "My work includes managing certifications and reports, handling corporate responsibility reporting, and processing customer certification requests," Outi says. "These tasks are demanding, but their precision and importance make them so rewarding."
Over the years, Outi has been involved in several significant projects, with two standing out in particular:
- The implementation of the purchasing demand planning system in 2016, which created a more efficient way to manage procurement.
- The e-commerce project, which opened a crucial purchasing channel for our customers, making product procurement easier and enhancing the customer experience.
"These projects taught me a lot and were great examples of how we can improve our operations by working together," she summarizes.
An Engineer’s Expertise in Supporting Responsibility
Outi holds a Master of Science in Engineering, a background that greatly supports her current responsibilities. "A technical background helps me grasp complex systems and solve the intricate challenges I often encounter in my work," she explains.Responsibility and quality management are constantly evolving, and future challenges inspire Outi to keep learning. "My professional goals in the near future are strongly tied to learning about carbon footprint calculations—understanding what our company's emissions consist of and how we can reduce them," she says. In 2025, our company joined the Finnish Chamber of Commerce’s Climate Program, which provides valuable tools and networking opportunities for improving emissions calculations. "It’s great to be part of this initiative and to exchange ideas with other companies," Outi notes.
Meaningful Work and Daily Motivation
For Outi, meaningful work has always been one of the most important motivators. "When you know that your work truly makes a difference, it gives you an incredible amount of energy," she shares. One of the most memorable moments of her career was when she got involved in her first major sustainability project. "It was a defining experience. That’s when I truly understood how significant my work can be — not just for the company, but for the broader community," she explains. "That moment sparked a deep sense of pride in what I do, and that feeling still drives me today." Our company’s values — mutual trust, predictability, honesty, and straightforwardness — have guided Outi in all her roles. "These values are reflected in our daily operations and form the foundation for how we interact with customers and colleagues," she adds.
If You Were One of Our Products, What Would You Be – and Why?
When asked which of our products best represents her, Outi’s answer came quickly: "I would be a network cable."
"Why? Because my work involves collaborating with the entire company. The flow of information is crucial for ensuring quality operations, and it connects different departments to work seamlessly together — just like a network cable ensures smooth data transmission. Without it, many things wouldn’t function efficiently," she explains.
10 Years of Growth and Development
Outi’s story is a testament to how a diverse career path can be built within the same company. Her impact is evident not only in our daily operations but also in our long-term sustainability goals. "I know that my work is meaningful. It gives me strength and joy in my daily life—and motivates me to keep improving," she says with a smile. "Here, I’ve had the chance to grow, learn, and develop myself. It has been an incredible journey, and I look forward to seeing what the coming years will bring."
